LIGHT//HOUSE

A project I created while Quarantined in the USA without access to my computer at home in the UK. Limitations brought about by only having my laptop forced me to create something very different to my usual high end realistic pieces. Process involved creating a flat image in Marmoset using a very narrow FOV camera and editing the layers similar to a photoshop docoument. Lighting and so forth in Marmoset allowed me to add great post features and edge highlights with absolute ease. It also allowed me to export at any resolution required and immediately drop it into PS.

Super grateful for the people in 3DFast Track and the 3DFB Discord for providing me with some great feedback throughout the creation process :)

Main inspirations were Firewatch & The Lighthouse, made in Marmoset and composited with extra bits in Photoshop - Everything in the image besides the text is made in 3D - including the border & lighthouse beams :)

How the scene works in Marmoset - the main camera uses a forced perspective technique to bring all the layers together. The process is not that different from the digital matte-painting technique used in VFX.
